French regulation, how Sportivo France works, data protection and player protection tools.
Regulation in France
What is the Autorité Nationale des Jeux?
The ANJ is the independent administrative authority that has regulated the sector in France since 2020. It issues licences, supervises operators, approves their commercial communication plans and oversees the protection of minors and vulnerable audiences.
How do I check that an operator is licensed?
The ANJ publishes an official, up-to-date list of licensed operators. Check it before signing up anywhere: anj.fr — offer and licensed operators. An operator absent from that list is not authorised to offer online sports betting in France.
What are the licence references of the operators you review?
Unibet — 0003–PS–2010–06–25 (Online sports betting licence) ; PMU — 0002–PS–2010–06–25 (Online sports betting licence). These references can be checked on the official ANJ register.
Why is identity verification required?
It follows from two regulatory obligations: preventing access by minors and complying with anti-money-laundering rules. No licensed operator may approve a first withdrawal without having verified the account holder’s identity.
Are sports betting winnings taxable?
For a private bettor, winnings are in principle not subject to income tax in France, because taxation is levied upstream on the stakes collected by operators. Betting on a professional scale may fall under a different regime: check with the tax authorities or an adviser.
How Sportivo France works
How is Sportivo France funded?
Through affiliate links, flagged as commercial links. When a reader opens an account with a licensed operator after following one of them, we may receive a commission. This changes neither the price nor the terms the reader gets. See Disclosure.
Does that payment influence the ratings?
No. The rating grid is public, identical for everyone and based on dated measurements. No operator reads or approves a review before publication. Full details in our methodology.
Do you publish tips?
No, never. We sell no selections, distribute no method presented as a winning one and promise no outcome. Our content is descriptive and comparative.
Can I bet directly from Sportivo France?
No. Sportivo France is a strictly editorial service. We accept no stakes, hold no customer accounts and process no transactions. Everything happens with the licensed operator, under its own responsibility.
How do I report an error in a review?
Write to contact@sportivofrance.com or use our contact form. Factual corrections are handled within 72 working hours and noted at the foot of the page concerned.
Player protection
What is the minimum age to bet in France?
18 and over. Sports betting is strictly forbidden to minors, including with an adult’s permission. Licensed operators are required to verify the age and identity of every account holder.
How do I limit my deposits or take a break?
Every licensed operator must offer deposit and stake limits from the account area, as well as the option of a temporary suspension. Our detailed guidance is on the Responsible betting page.
What is voluntary self-exclusion?
It is a free measure, requested from the ANJ, that blocks access to betting with every operator licensed in France for a minimum of three years, renewed automatically. You can apply online or by post.
Where can I find help with problem gambling?
Joueurs Info Service, a free, anonymous and confidential public service: 09 74 75 13 13, seven days a week from 8am to 2am. A self-assessment tool is also available on EvaluJeu.
